Core Course Week Days 4 & 5

DAY 27, THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 7th

Core course week continued today but back in Copenhagen. We met in our classroom at 9:45 today for another guest lecture. This time the lecture was about learning games as well as learning through creating learning games. We all also split into groups and had to try our hand at creating a learning game prototype. After this lecture we had time to go grab lunch and hang out before we had to return at 1:30. Me and a few friends got some cheap kebab from down the street. Once the whole class was back we watched the movie Her that came out a few years ago. The basic premise of the movie, which is slightly futuristic/fantasy, is that the main character, Theodore, falls in love with his operating system/AI. The movie was quite interesting and thought provoking, yet really creepy as well. After discussing the movie, its themes, and how it relates to class we finished up for the day.

DAY 28, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 8th

The last day of core course week! Headed in to get to class around 10. Our last guest lecturer was discussed her company/app/website called LifeMap. It is an app developed to help high-school aged people with problems and issues. At the end of the lecture we all had to pick a postcard and explain how we saw that postcard related to struggles high school aged and young adult people go through. We had a break to eat sandwiches for lunch that were catered in by DIS. After lunch we had a group project presentation on relationships and dating in an online world and then after we had a class discussion on the topic. Our last event of Core Course Week was just a class wrap-up of the week and we all debriefed on the week and talked about the highlights of the week for each of us. After Core Course Week was finally finished I went home and just hung out with my host family to end the busy week.
