Dublin Part 3

DAY 55, FRIDAY, MARCH 8TH

Today we met, after breakfast, at 9:15 to head to Dublin City University for our last lecture of the week. The lecture was broadly on ethics and touched on ethical questions that arise with new technologies and other advancements. After the lecture we had a few hours of free time so we went to grab lunch at a cafe and then stopped in St. Patrick’s Cathedral which was neat.

After the cathedral we met back up with our class at 3 at the Jameson Distillery!! We had a guided tour in which our tour guide discussed the history of Jameson and how it’s made, and then we did a comparative tasting of Jameson whiskey, a Scottish whiskey, and an American whiskey. I’m not a huge whiskey fan but I really enjoyed the tour and our tour guide was amazing and really funny. After the tour, each person got a free drink so almost all of us got whiskey with ginger ale and lime since the straight whiskey was not our fave.

After hanging out there for a while we headed to a group dinner at the Winding Stair restaurant. We have a 3 course meal from a limited menu & some wine. It was fancy and delicious!

DAY 56, SATURDAY, MARCH 9TH

Today was the last day of our long study tour!!! While we are definitely exhausted, it’s sad for this wonderful trip with wonderful new friends to be over. Before heading back to the airport we took a bus ride to Howth. It used to be a fisherman’s village so it is a really cute area right on the water with some beautiful cliffs. We did a hike along the cliffs, ended with a spectacular rainbow, and walked around the village, including an old church in ruins, before getting a group lunch in town at The Abbey Tavern for some fresh salmon.

After lunch we headed to the airport for a long travel day! We were exhausted but after a layover in Amsterdam and a bumpy flight home we finally made it to Copenhagen and our class all went their separate ways. I’m so exhausted at the end of this trip but it was an absolutely fantastic trip! Exploring Dublin, learning about cyber psychology from varying professions as well as seeing it in action, and hanging out with friends made for a great time! Once I got home I spent 20 minutes chatting with my host parents and updating them on what I'd done the past week before heading to bed!
